Altec 844a pair from a recording studio

Interesting that they changed out the compression drivers to some Renkus units. Also added a Infinity tweeter.

Wonder how these things sound?

This is the same ebay seller I got my Urei 604G's from. I think I'll wait for a pair of 844 to come up locally

Well, those are interesting, aren't they? Considering they were in a recording studio, one would hope that as they modified the drivers and added the tweeters they took the trouble to do frequency response sweeps to check the integration of the new components. One would hope.

In fact, it'd be interesting to request the new studio do a complimentary rta for the information of the potential purchaser.

That being done and all things checking out ok, the price is not outrageous. Not for two speakers.

So the 844 and 9844 look to be the same speaker, but just a different generation right?
