I know enough.... that I wouldn't even own or build a 300B amp Bill.
I've only built amps for myself, a pastor, and my friend Greg who GAVE me his 515Bs, 802Ds and 511s. This year, I am privately helping a few others DIY build amps.
I will leave the 300B use - to the masses. Here is why .......
The 2.5 Volt filament of a 2A3 will allow one to beneficially use A.C. heating, which always sounds better than any 5 Volt D.C. operated filament, required with a 300B.
See Bill,..... you live and learn !!
If you run a Mc Intosh, never a MC75, do the MC60 monos,... best sounding of that bunch IMHO. .
But Bill, never use any of them on ALTEC speakers. Here is why :
** too many stages,
** too many dynamics-robbing series coupling caps,
** negative feedback loops,
** and the need to split the signal's phase and recombine the signal.
ALL these factor as unnecessary circuit complexity.
This complexity degrades its overall performance potential severely, as to what is best possible in 2017, to power Altecs.
I have told you this a couple times before. Did it not sink in, or make sense to you ??
You need to get out some, and simply listen to a good, no....whoops, ( they are not good enough ) the best, tube amp for ALTECS..
Good spelling, 'yer last post.
