Its interesting that the 802/806 use the same diaphragm/VC, and the same for the 807/808. Guess that shows that the HF rolloff is a result of the different magnets and not diaphragm construction.
I use diaphragms from some 806a in a pair of 802G. They sound good , and I always wondered if I was sacrificing any VHF output. Guess this clears it up
I couldn't find a date on the document but it looks like a 'later' one. Those who know the later products that are not not listed could have some idea. I would think that the parts listed were what was being offered at the time.

It makes sense that they use the same diaphragm, but I just never kept track of what I took out of the 806 versus the 802. I just know I have been using phragms out of some 806 in my 802, for a while, and they sound great.
Even though I had to solder the broken leads on both. Its probably time to replace those with some GPA diaphragms if the leads break again
The date code for Altec lit is in the letters & numbers following the phrase "Litho in U.S.A.". This is normally at the bottom of the first or the last page. "CP-770" shows that this lit was printed during the seventh month of 1970. The "5K" means 5000 copies were printed. At some later date they started using "M" instead of "K". "AL-1766" is the title of the document. My only copy is AL-1766-1, with the "-1" meaning revision #1.

Ever since reading this thread I keep wondering about Altec diaphragms. In '84 when Gulten bought Altec one of the first things they changed was the height of the voice coil in the high frequency diaphragms. (I could be wrong but this is what I remember.) If you go to the Eminence website and compare apples to apples, the 16 0hm diaphragm always has a better response than the 8 Ohm. And the screw on driver better yet. Are we missing something by using a 8 ohm diaphragm instead of a 16 ? Altec response charts are few and spotty in between. As a reconer in the early 80's we did a lot of diaphragm replacements and I have only run out of original diaphragms as of a year ago.
