Just get the frams for the 291's and a single 1005 with another 828 and you'll have the front three channels for a home theater. Then all you'll have to do is convince the wife.

There must have been some serious improvement to the large diaphragms as the 288B's couldn't be EQ'd to be anywhere near as good/extended up high as the 802's, otherwise would never have done the stacked 511s or developed the huge 1" throat WG.

Mine basically hit a brick wall around 12 kHz, though mids to die for. Seems like to get more extension would compromise the mids as normally one is always 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' in adjusting a closed system.

Years ago I had duel driver 288's on tar filled ten cells on my 828's with E.V St 350a tweeters. Still chasing that sound. Just so natural. Mick Ronson was "in" my livingroom

Large diaphrams for us oldies, then.
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

Any hope at this late date, preferably with dims or at least can be scaled?

20 inches deep, 30 inches wide, typical lumber core plywood of the late 50's era, 3/4 inch thick.

Here's the bolt code sheet, and i'll work on getting some location dimensions later today or tomorrow.

Elitopus will be here this morning, if he takes the sleds we may have to have him do the dimension gig.

Yeah, it was this one from that posting that 'reminded' me about this thread that I thought had the info to link to, but now it's just a photo and searching FB was a waste of time: Page Not Found | Facebook
