Does the 290-4G have the same body/motor as the 288G/291B?

    Like the title says.

I know they have a different rear cover and diaphragm.

In my search for a single 288G/291B driver, I am curious if I can add the 290 to my list of compatible models. Were there just metal phase plug 290 drivers, or was there also a tangerine version?

Any others that share the same body/motor?

Edit: Was just doing some reading. So the 290 has a bigger VC gap than the 288/291? I am assuming the diaphragms are not interchangeable.

Well...yes and no. Problem is the diaphragm.

Please understand it's likely 25 years since I have touched a 290. But my gray matter is telling me the 290 fram uses a larger surround, hence a larger bolt circle for mounting. Regardless frams won't fit.

I've often considered asking Bill if he could put the 288 fram in a 290 ring but I keep forgetting.

    Seems like a marketable product.

    Yes there were Tangerine 290's.
