Jbl diaphragm in Altec 802 driver?

I saw this listing for a pair of 32b horns and 802 drivers. If you look at the pics, one driver has an Altec diaphragm, and the other has what looks like a JBL diaphragm. Judging by the surround that is. Also the one in question appears to have no screws holding in the diaphragm.

Even though Lansing kept the dimensions the same, the the diaphragm won't fit.

    The mounting ring is different.

He didn't want his diaphragms used in Altecs. Possibly an example of why he always had money problems.

    That's a cheap Chinese diaphragm I suspect.

Well that explains the diaphragm, but what about the lack of mounting screws?

If Chinese it probably doesn't need mounting screws, force it on the locating pins and it's self retaining. Quality at it's best!

Yeah those Chinese phragms suck. I bought a couple before I knew any better. The locating holes didn't even line up. They sent me two more and those were the same way.

Re: Jbl diaphragm in Altec 802 driver?

For anyone looking for a pair of 32b horns and 802 drivers, the seller told me he would take 250$ for this pair. Just needs the Chi-Fi diaphragm replaced with an original Altec.

Snot a bad deal for the pair.
