Cheapened up/economy alternative to Living Voice Olympian.

Living Voice | Kevin Scott | UK Loudspeaker Manufacturers

Living Voice Vox Olympian | Hifi Pig

I don't think those would match my listening room (garage) decor

A couple hundred gigs bouncing around in the truck and a spray can of flat black........................ they'll look good just about anywhere.

Glittery, shiny stuff is too distracting and takes away from the sonic presentation. I like my music coming at me from a background that is as infinite and black as possible.

Absolutely right Bowtie. I don't even care for veneered speakers. I think theatre gray looks pretty nice

I think the fancy speakers are mostly for Waf anyways. Maybe some guys are into gold plated compression drivers?

For $80k one could build-on a 7.1 theatre home extension with your choice of VOTTs.

    Re: OT? 80,000 Smackeroos.

Well, danggit, I guess I'll have to get over my need to be loved by being the lone dissenting voice here. I adore beautiful furniture - especially if that beautiful furniture makes beautiful music. The Burwell speakers are aimed at people like me - except rolling in "silly money" - whose appreciation of eye candy is almost as much an addiction as ear candy. People like me can stare for hours at fine furniture and find inspiration in the craftsmanship, the grain of the wood, the joinery, and the finish, all of which are an art that has been appreciated for centuries. Being able to combine the two loves - fine audio and fine furniture - in one exotic expression is a natural outgrowth of the passions.

Plain-Jane cabinets that neither add to nor subtract from the listening experience are fine, too, for those who prefer it that way. The manufacturers that we are devoted to - Altec, RCA, JBL, University, EV, Klipsch, et.al. - all recognized the two preferences (and the DIY crowd, as well) and responded to them by offering their goods as needed: in raw drivers and crossovers, rugged industrial finishes, or furniture grades that would blend quite acceptably with high end furniture and extravagant furnishings.

Yes, the Burwell offerings are expensive. Waaaaay beyond my means. But compared to the noted Living Voice speakers ($332,000 - $530,000 US), they hardly seem extraordinarily shocking. To the well-heeled to whom the Burwells are aimed, that kind of cash is certainly not a burden.

    They shout 'new-money' to me.

But then, I think Altec got it right with the Magnificents.
