Red face O.T. HIGH end mic good news

For those who know the line of Neumann mics since the 30's will be glad to know that Neumann is reintroducing the U67 tube Jan 25.

My experience with reissues is they rarely meet the quality of the originals.
Manufacturing methods have changed, you no longer have an employee passionate about his job assembling your mic.

I have some original Sennheisers, bought the reissues and immediately returned them.

    It's out at NAMM .
They made it between 1960 and 1967.
Same new pentode but they choose the best .
Assembled in their new desinfected assembly plant.

The old ones sell for 20k on Ebay. We should be set on the price later on today. Aprx 7k $

    Often imitated never duplicated

That makes no sense. It may use the same model tube, but if it's new it's not the same as the old one. I'm not aware of any new tubes that are as good as the old American, British, and German tubes.

I'm just a firm believer reissues should be treated as a different mic. Too much has changed, and the mics have to be re-engineered for modern production methods.

Probably will be a good tube but it won't be a revival. The WE of today bought the name- it isn't the same company.
It will be a reverse engineered tube, at best a copy. Remember when Sparkomatic made A7's?
Hopefully a good copy. WE has been making decent tubes according to friends.
Disclaimer- I have never used tubes from the company now calling itself WE.

I didn't know that. I thought it was a remnant of WE.

    I've followed closely.

Peluso was warned by Neumann not to use the same grill. They use a Russian EF 95.

For 3 grand .The A/B is indistinguishable. So Neumann and their resources went ahead with a brand new ef86 in big quantities to pick the best.
