    N-1201-8A Crossover help

    Gentlemen,having difficulty sourcing caps of exact ufd, specifically c-3 21ufd .Any advise would truly be appreciated. Live Long

    One can parallel caps together to obtain any desired value.

    ( uF values add directly together > ie; 18uF + 3uF =21uF )

    Appreciate the reply.Realize that one can parallel the caps ,and guess that's what I'll have to do,as some odd past mfd values are far and few between! Live Long

    Quite a few around here useMotor-Run capacitors ( of the oil filled variety ) within our networks .

    Modern Motor-Runs typically use metalized polypropylene foil ( swimming in oil ).

    Not only do Motor-Runs sound great ( especially on compression drivers ), but they represent about the cheapest MicroFarad per $$ you can spend on a cap ( excusing the lowly bipolar electrolytic ).

    I can't say they all sound alike ( since all mine are surplus Mallory types ).

    Others here have reported great results when using theGenteq brand

    One challenge is to find values small enough for the networks.

    Usually, the cap will need a bit more added uF to make up the preferred value ( there, you can buy whatever grabs your fancy _ .




    PS: BTW, motor runs are not "Motor Start" ( > that's a different type & is designed as a discharge cap > IOW, not made for constant voltage through-put )
