measurement horns plage - Google Search

I don't know how to post a non-URL .pdf. So, open this Google search result page and the first link should be the one:
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

Interesting read, it would have been nice if they would have reviewed the Altec 811 or 511 horn to see how they would have done in the competition.

Nice to see such a mixture of components.

    Re: Le Cleach Horn Measurements

If I correctly remember the provenance of this document, it was also accompanied by another document that subjectively marked & assessed a listening preference for all those horn/driver combos ( as done by a panel of listeners ).

The results were not that surprising ( to some of us ) in that what technically ( objectively ) scored best on paper failed to agree with what the audience liked most.

Some back-grounding; the lead-up to all this, was a lot of work done by two individuals hoping to visibly identify HOM creation within the various combos while hoping to link said HOMs to a listening preference .

That link was not established ( if memory serves correctly ) to the surprise of the principles involved.

One of the authors ( JmLC ) died within a year of all this effort and no further refinements ( to the testing format ) were attempted.

So the "objective" remained subordinate to the "subjective".

    Re: Le Cleach Horn Measurements

I am a Le Cleach horn user for years now. I had tried other Altec horns with 1" and 1.4" Altec Drivers (802D and 288C) with 416 and 414's. I used to have 604-8G's too. After hearing my current set up with Markwart derived XO from JE Labs, I never look back and sold most of my other stuff.

    Re: Le Cleach Horn Measurements

I'm using this horn with 909, 802 and 288. Running active XO or the N800 with T-filter sounds great. I had to tame the midbass bump or it can sound a little in-your-face. Some people tend to think this sounds good with the vocalist right up front.
