Re: Fix the access problem, or just bring the board down

    Hallo Todd,

I have received a comprehensive reply from the Lencoheaven admin. If you could inform me your email ID via PM, I shall forward it to you as I cannot send a PM (yet) due to insufficient number of posts.

Also, it may be possible that some ISPs have blocked hostboard (the parent server), and this has prevented members using these ISPs from getting access.

    Regards,

I can attest to experiencing this.

+ if we want to retain and even attract new members, we need some reasonably robust image/file hosting associated.
+ ideally It should be archivable/exportable.

I'm not talking about 4k mpgs of your woofers pumping away, but at least hi-res jpg/png, ability to post .pdf, .txt, maybe .xls etc.

Perhaps that comes with a subscription of some sort - ok. no problem contributing - but once posted/hosted content should last indefinitely for posterity.

Without the promise of posterity, the impetus to put up a quality post/reply/assist is quickly lost. :-(

++ ...if I come across that damn photobucket-cat again...

Logged in this morning, loaded up quickly. Perhaps there is hope.

I just saw/read that too..... Does that mean that were staying here on hostboard or what?

I am just worried about all the old information everyone has posted here. Was it ever archived? That's a lot of info down the drain if it wasn't.......

The people here make this place what it is.
And the history of their contributions over the years is really irreplaceable. Sure hope we don't lose the content.

Re: Fix the access problem, or just bring the board down

The server is about 3 weeks out but the order is in. I have to wait for my current contract to expire as my host will not let me out of the current one early. In the meantime, new developer and working on fixing what we have and then will start poking at some of the smaller items on the laundry list. From what I can see so far the changes made, have shown to be a massive improvement. More or less it will come down to available finances in terms of fixing and adding things.

    The current server:
    Dual E5-2620 (2x 2.5GHz, Hex-Core + HT)
    16GB DDR3-1600 2Rx4 ECC REG
1TB SATA II Enterprise Grade (3.5")
    480GB Samsung SSD (2.5")

    New server:
Intel Xeon E-2186G with HT 6x3.8GHz (4.70 GHz Turbo)
    32GB DDR4 RAM
    (2) 480GB SSD RAID1
