    Altec Preamps for Stereo?

So I'm keeping an eye out for some old Altec tube monoblocks like the 1569A or similar. Than the thought came to me that it would be really cool to have a rack with both the amps and some more green Altec goodness in it.
I know Altec made a lot of PA and pro gear and the models get bewildering. Did they ever build a tube preamp that would be suitable for a home stereo?
I don't want to get the thread derailed with opinions of using a pre or not. I use a tube pre with my Mac monoblocks and love it.
So is there any Altec gear that would belong in a nice Altec only rack for HiFi?

    Thanks

    BillWojo

luckly most of the lurkers are still put off by the recent board outages. so you stand a chance at getting a decent altec tube set off epay before they're snapped up after any discussion about them.

No particular experience here, but all that comes to mind are the mic pre's.
Might be worth mentioning what features if any, you are looking for.

    My '58 ESP catalog lists:
    1510A Preamplifier $99
    1511A Preamplifier $85
    1566A Preamplifier $90
    1567A Mixer Preamplifier $198

...along with 1568A/1569A/1570A amps, so the former are presumed contemporary to those.

The 1567A spec sheet: "Insertion of the 12864 accessory plug will convert either of two low level inputs to phono facility and provide the proper RIAA equalization for magnetic pickups."
