    "New" Altecs on the way

I think I just acquired another pair of 604Cs. These are vintage 1957 and are mounted in 606 corner cabs. One appears to be an original Altec cab, the other a DIY replacement. I'll add some pics when I have them. I hope they sing as is, but I got them for a good enough price to be able to send them to GPA if necessary.

I'm hopefully expanding my coffee roastery to a new location early next year and of coarse, needed some proper tunes. Would it be sacrilege to replace the grill cloths with some coffee sac burlap with really nice graphics?

Congratulations! The grill cloths would probably be very cool in the coffee shop... do what works for you. Sounds like a good place to get some Java and Altec goodness! Bring on the photos.

Fuzzy burlap will attenuate the highs. There are similar vintage looking grille cloths. I'd recommend that.

Hopefully both cones are all paper. 20750's or equivalent. If you have buzzes or rattles rotate the speakers 180. These have some of the best mids do to the slightly curved cone. Once all is well build another bucket sub. (A lab 12 in a discarded shop vac)
