Hi Everybody,
i bought an used DSP 4024A, but it came without the Software for Remote via the RS232-Port on the Backside.
Has anybody this Software, or may tell me, where to download??
Thanks a lot.

I may have this. I'll look for it. Contact me in a couple of days if you haven't heard from me on it.

Sorry guys, the 9 pin connector on the back of the 4024A is for recalling memory presets using simple switches. The 4024A is programmed from the front panel only . . .

hey todd... actually i have an 8553b. it seems its a 2 channel programable eq. from what ive gathered it would appear that one needs a controller as well as the software for these units? couple questions.. are they good eq's? do the settings remain even if the power goes out, or do you have to re-program them every time? this one says 50 watts on the back? uA data bus? remote memory select? device address? any good links on this foroum? i know microaudio has gone under, i looked ther for drivers, thought at first i could just hook up my pc to it..somehow. on the input and output conections on this unit it shows... hi, low, and ground? hi frequenct, low frequency? is there an internal crossover in this? many thanks in advance

Hi Val!
I really LOVED these units!
Yes, the 8553B was a 2-channel, 1/3-octave programmable equalizer. To program it, you use the Altec 8051A RTA/Programmer, a hand-held programmer, use the microaudio data bus, or use the RS232 port from your computer and the software (the easiest way). You only need one.
These are very well-behaved eq's. The settings are programmed into it, and don't go away when you lose AC power. HOWEVER - the onboard battery DOES need to be replaced about once every 10 years to make sure...it's a common item that can be replaced with a socket (the original is soldered to the pc board). The last one I replaced cost about $10...
50 watts is the power consumption.
You should download the manual:

No internal crossover - that's the Model 8432A - LOVED that one!
Hope this helps!

I found all of the software for the programmable equalizers and the programmable attenuators (got several new ones - anyone need one?), but didn't find it for the 4024A.
I guess now I know why...

hey todd..great reading, i learned alot. i got it inline now and hooked up the 8055b programer, the handheld version..it seems fairly straight forward to use, however there are a few frequencies that dont change. is there a master clear function ? i looked in the library for a user manual...the 8055b operating instructions part number42-02-027617. a little toggle switch on the back of the 8055b? any help would be great. i do notice..off the bat..that this unit is very quiet, no added noise to the soundstream, very nice
