    Angry

About few months before, I have seen a Sunn Magna (purple color) on D-Day auction. The seller described those are Altec 802 OEM.
Now, I seen a pair of Sunn Magna model 131 that seller have describe those was produce by Altec . There is absolutely no difference between a 288 and 291 vintage alnico driver except the 288 uses aluminum diaphragms

Is it true OEM version? or those just a pair of mock? Cause I don?t know.
    Todd, do you know?
    Have anybody can answer me?

    Thank you

I could, but I won't since they are mine! Like most everything I know (or how little I know) comes from Jim D.

    Steve,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have been own and collecting more quality vintage drivers units or speaker sets. To present, I own a lot of speakers\drivers as audio shop. Then I still in searching.

I like to collect any special version. for example: JBL's driver with Dukane marked. bullet and slot tweeters with factory special treatment, military version, special order or oem versions..any models of EV T35 and 350...every knd of ribbon tweeters... etc. and more

I will happy to have a pair if those are in mint conditions. So, I interested to search the fact of those OEM 288.

Mechanically they are perfect as I just got them back this week from Bill, butI would say that cosmetically they are good but not close to near mint in terms of the paint. They could easily be painted to mint condtion as the drivers themselves are excellent, just a little paint has worn off and a few scratches (again could easily be re-furbished). They were ALTEC 291 (probably as they were sold for use in commercial applications)OEM drivers for Sunn.

or maybe acid wash and rinse with coil cleaner. makes
me wonder how much iron oxide is floating around the gap.

i'm serious about the acid wash. sulfuric acid will dessolve the iron oxide and not effect the solid iron. then its a matter of washing the core, drying it, and giving it a coat of dry silicone to keep it from rusting. saved the 802 paperweight i bought

(also dissolves small filings a real bad thing to have in the gap)
