WHEN IS A MOTOR RATED SWITCH REQUIRED?

Does a residential well pump require a horsepower rated switch to control it, or is a general purpose switch sufficient?

you can use a regular switch as long as it is rated 125% greater than the FLA of the motor.
    (12 amps on a 15 amp switch)
