I was hoping Phillip Sims would go to UT. I didn't expect him to commit that quickly. I also thought us having his teamate Jerod Askew would help us out and who knows it might in the long run and we can turn him but I doubt it. You never know though between now and February. I will anxiously be waiting next week to see where Scroggins goes. Fingers crossed it will be UT but I don't like that USC just offered and UF is still in it. Where do you think he ends up Lung? |

[QUOTE=Biggin;1780102]well stripes i think da U will get him, he was close with bryan pata IIRC, and he lived in miami before moving to port st lucie he seems like a good kid with a good head on his shoulders as well, any team will be lucky to have him. i hope nicky can show him what hes done with rolando mcclain and somehow talk him into being the next great Bama linebacker. bama already has the #1 pro style QB, Philip Sims from VA committed, as well as the top rated DB in Millner, so hopefully he sees the potential in tuscaloosa. Smith plays at Oscar Smith, so I may go up and see him if they play anywhere remotely close to here. I watched him last year in the State Championship game. He is one heck of a player. Has a really good arm and is a very smart QB. He will be on ESPN on Aug 28 when Oscar Smith plays Venice High School out of Florida. The QB from Venice has committed to Florida. It should be a really good game. |

yeah I like that Sims is more of a dropback QB, alabama isnt a spread team, but they can still use a QB with a little speed and a great arm. Scroggins may end up at UT, but having USC jump in the boat would scare anyone. alabama's class is setting up very nicely, if nick can keep this up, expect more success. it should be a great DB class, with some good DE's hopefully, the one piece alabama needs is a carlos dunlap-esque pash rusher off the edge. |

| 50/50 UT/USC. Hopefully UT. I wanted him more than Heaps or Sims. I'd take either 3 though. LBU, The little 11 only has two real teams OSU and PSU. So you're safe. They're a big step down from the mighty SEC though.

OK--here's the deal on the whole Luc/Pata connection. When he lived in Miami, his family/friends were friends with the Pata's. As lots of people did related to the situation--they jumped to the conclusion that had Pata not attended Miami, he would still be alive today. Word is that Jeff's mother is one of those people in/around the family that feel that way. It's gonna basically come down to a few things--who makes the final call, Jeff or his mother...and, when Jeff makes an official to Miami with his mother, can Shannon & the staff ensure Mrs. Luc that Coral Gables isn't in the Pork & Beans projects, but away from the city center. One thing that needs to be understood, as Luc's brother Alex put to rest many months ago, is that they didn't leave Miami due to Pata's murder--they left because Jeff himself, when he was younger, was running with the wrong group of kids. He was ignoring school, and was about to be lost to the streets, as many kids his age have happen. His family felt the best thing to do was to leave Miami and get away from the kids he was running with--and so they decided to move to Port St. Lucie. It's only 2 hours north of Miami, but still, it was a better situation. Jeff found football, realized that was his calling, and has become the beast we see today in these highlight tapes & a top 10 national prospect. As far as who he likes, I believe that out of the in-state schools, Miami's got to be the team to beat even with Mrs. Luc being iffy with the Pata history. Everytime he's asked about Miami directly by another team's site (Scout or Rivals), he talks about how he feels Miami's staff/team is like a family, and he loves that. He also attended a practice back in March, and was very impressed with the personnel and the level of competition on defense. All he wants is a chance to compete for the starting job no matter where he goes, and with the way Shannon has opened things up since he took over as HC, he'll get that chance if he decides to go to UM. He also was quoted as saying he wants a school with a great academic reputation--and out of those 5 main schools (Miami/FSU/UF/Bama/UT), Miami's got the best reputation, and without looking at the #'s, I would guess the best graduation rate during Shannon's tenure. Miami's main competition for Luc will be out of state, being Bama & Tennessee. Saban's got a great history with defensive players and getting superstars on that side of the ball dating back to his LSU days. Monte Kiffin is one of the biggest names in the history of defensive football as well. But--by the same token, don't count out former NFL linebackers like Shannon & Mike Barrow and their ability to speak to helping a bright defensive talent like Luc reach his potential and make it to the NFL. My early guess before all the officials: Miami, with the caveat that I think that Shannon & the staff CAN sway Mrs. Luc and show her that UM isn't downtown Miami or the projects, but Coral Gables and set apart from the troubles that she's concerned her son may be getting back into. If they can't sway her, it's either Bama or Tennessee, IMO. |

Ask Javarie Johnson. He recently decided for Miami over Maryland. Did I mention he went to Dunbar HS in DC? Same school that gave the Twerps their best player in recent memory, Vernon Davis? Jabba the Friedgen should have gotten that kid hands down with the Dunbar connection...looks like something in Coral Gables caught his eye instead.
