It isn't what you think youngins...no roling around naked in the goo...Our neighbors are grinding cane and making molassas today and tomorrow...they cook it down in a huge stainless steel bin kind of thing...it is awesome. I got two quarts last year...you'd be amazed at the stuff they can brew up here in the mountains..hehehehee

Mum Our Fruits and veggies took a big tumble this year too, first too much water, then too little water and the heat

In The little town where I grew up, we always had a week long Fall fest on the public square. A friend of my stepfather brought in his sorgum press and two little donkeys, and would put on demonstrations while his wife sold jars of molassas.

I always remember breakfast of homemade biscuits about the size of sausers, soaked in that fresh dark sweet molassas.

My goodness what a pleasent flashback.

Your Mom use to add a spoonful of sorgum to her chili. I thought it added a good flavor to her chili, Not like that concoction you make that will melt a spoon.

My Mom did add molasses to her chili, Moms chili was great, but as I started out on my own I change the recipe slightly.

I started Adding more spices and whatnot, But I don't buy sorgum so I use a bit o brown sugar or a little chocolate, to cut the burn.

Never heard of adding it to spaghetti sauce....Hmmmmm.

Trashcan, I only melted one spoon making chili and it was plastic

Mum I live in PA and have way too much snow here
for my liking! *LMAO*

GaToR lives in Florida and is in the middle
of a hurricane today.......*sigh* I am just
sitting here waiting on his phone calls to let
me know all is well.....last call was to let
me know there are trees down all around, some
shingles flying off his roof, and what not...but
at least he is going to be on the back side of
the storm now and in a few hours it will all be
over.....I just hope everything holds up in that
time......
