I have been shooting a short Super-8 film recently and over the past few weeks I've shot 24 cartridges of super-8 film through my Canon 1014-XLS, all on the same set of AA batteries. The battery tester is indicating the batteries are still in good shape.

The double A batteries were purchased at Location Sound in Toluca Lake, California. The AA batteries are competively priced at around 42 cents a piece. I'm not going to say what the name brand actually is because for once, any internet cheapskate that is addicted to shaving the last penny on every purchase they make can walk into the store themselves and find out the name of the batteries, or you can order them from locationsound.com

And if one of you were to call and try to get the information over the phone so you can then try to find the cheapest price on the internet, that makes you an ******* in my book.

I think I got up to between 30-35 cartridges off of one six pack of these batteries when I accidentally left the camera in the on position between shoot days. End of experiment.

Default Re: How many cartridges can a Canon 1014XLS run on 6 AA batteries?

Hi, I wanted to update this topic from almost three years ago.

The cost per battery appears to be 52 cents a battery at this moment in time. Here is a link to their batteries page.-- Search results

Oops, it turns out it's actually STILL 42 cents a battery if you order 24 batteries.

Here is that link. Location Sound Corp: Pro Audio's Resource for the Sale/Rent of Sound Equipment. -- AA Batteries
