Default WHY isnt it working??

Hey Folks,

Im new to Super 8, using a Halina Camera.

The Problem is... I have put 2 AA batteries in the camera and nothing appears to be happening (ie I am not hearing the motor, and the film is not advancing)

I noticed that there is also a compartment inside the camera where the film goes for a small cell like battery, but im not sure if this is neccessary?

I was hoping some of you may be able to shed some light on this. Am I doing something wrong? Or shall I simply consider the camera as a write off...?

Please Help!

Sam

Another question I have is: how do you know what kind of battery to use in the cell part?

I dont have an instruction manual and cant find one anywhere online

Thanks again

I think I have a Halina camera, but it is currently in storage. Can you post a picture of your camera?

Simple rules are always use FRESH alkaline batteries, make sure they are installed the correct way, and make sure there is not another area where additional double A batteries go into.

It sounds like you have two separate issues:

The little round battery is most likely for driving the lightmeter; that is generally their function in Super-8 cameras (Braun-Nizos use them a lot.)
You need to find out the voltage and model of battery and then Google something like 'camera battery vintage' to locate a source.
Most likely it's something silly like a 1.35V model or similar, and I don't believe they are widely available the way they used to be.

Secondly, assuming that battery is only for the meter, your camera should still run on the AAs, if in fact it only uses two of them. Check the contacts for corrosion and check for correct insertion (plus and minus.)
