  1. I own several used Sony ES, Carver, and Parasound consumer amplifiers and a few pro sound mixers, but I don't have any pro amplifiers! Whenever I connect a mixer's output to any of these consumer amplifiers, (even the amps with independent level controls for left and right channels), I get a significantly distorted sound and the amplifiers run so hot, I'd swear they were going to burst into flames! I need to know how to pad the output of a pro mixer to connect to one of these consumer stereo amplifiers.

I need to use a Behringer 1202FX mixer with 1/4" TRS mains (manual says unbalanced?) with ~120 Ohm impedance and +22 dBu peak output level. Clearly, this overloads the inputs of my consumer amplifiers. How do I pad this level down to use a consumer amp to run sound for a local baseball tournament coming up next week. Can't afford a new pro amp. How can I make the gear I already own work and play well together?
