Soo, being a good responsible author, I was wandering along on my merry way, going through some of the old parts of my fics in search of more inspiration. And besides the fact that I've only recently seen the awful Mary Sue-age of the first few chapters of Niirer (link below), now I don't know what to do about the prologue.
For anyone who hasn't read it, you can click the link in my signature to get to the fic. For those that have read it, the prologue is the thing that starts it off, about the Fates (though not Fates quite as we think of them) and how it began...
This prologue was added after the fic had been going for awhile. Basically, I had the kewl idea about these Fates, and I ran with it. And Niirer seemed like the best fic I had avaliable to get that in.
But now, going back, I realize how much it doesn't fit. Originally, I was planning to make links to these Fates throughout the fic. But that hasn't happened. And so, the prologue just remains there, dangling onto the beginning...
Should I go back and get rid of it? Granted, it would be annoying to have to shift all the chapters again. But... I just don't know.
Help! Anyone?

You could keep it and in the Epilogue have it end with the Fates, it begans with them and it ends with them. That's just my take on it.

personally, i like it and if you take silver's idea of ending the story with it, it would be that much better. i think the story would've been kind of EH if you kept referring to the fates throughout the story, though. i say leave it.

Hmm... meybe, meybe...
Kinda had a plan for the ending. Well, ok I'll spoil some of it just cause you guys rock my socks and are helping me out: They will sail away, yes, but they won't be arriving in Valinor. Draw your own conclusions hehe.
Perhaps I could twist the Fates in there somehow... hmm... yis that might work. Think it's still ok that the prologue has like *nothing* to do with the plot of the rest of the story though? I guess that's what bothered me most-- that the first chap gave readers a false impression.
Hmm...

So guess what. The honors english teacher for seniors next year is pushing the board to allow us to read/study/analyze Lord of the Rings in Contemporary Literature. HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!?
only problem-i'm signed up for A.P. composition.
the question? Do I jeopardize my future for the chance to be able to study tolkein?
Disturbingly, the answer is closer to yes!
