Has it really been so long since I was last here?!
It's so nice to see old friends here!
LOL, Bee! I was expecting another cute pic of Andy doing something cute with drums in the second pic. And up pops your other son! Guess I should read more carefully! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
Andy is soooo cute! And Aaron is looking so mature! He really is growing up!
Have you tried the orange pie pumpkins, Bee. They are small and sweet, raised for pies. I thought I had seen white pumpkins since I left CA, but maybe not... My favorite use for pumpkins is in several different soups. I'll trade you soup for pie!! Mmmmm!
What an example of, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes"! Yesterday was 75* and beautiful; snow tonight!
How amazing!! My backyard is a freeway and the neighborhood, while not inner-city, is that next ring. Its days as a nice neighborhood ended about 1965-70, when the freeway was built. Route 20 runs in front of the house. Anyway, my husband came home after dropping me at work yesterday and there was a red fox between the freeway and the fence! Tonight a small hawk flew through there. Last year we saw an owl in this very tiny "wild area." It's just that it isn't accessable--even on foot it takes a lot of effort that even the kids don't seem to want to go through. (BTW, occasionally, there have been peacocks in the front yard--escapees from the cemetary across the street!)

Syc, that is so cool! Don't you love it when you can catch a glimpse of wild animals reclaiming a small portion of what they have lost over the past several hundred years here?
Unfortunately, in my neighborhood the only wildlife, other than birds, are multiple colonies of skunks. *knocks on contact paper-covered particle board for imaginary good luck* So far none have been hit in my immediate vicinity, but I imagine it's only a matter of time.

I guess we're lucky. We have a plethora of wildlife. Not in our neighborhood, but close enough to visit with regularity. As for peacocks, one of our local orange groves has a large flock of them which join the crowds outside the shop where we go for fruit and gifts. Another of the groves has alligators (penned) and assorted wildlife inside a representation of a Seminole village, run by actual Native Americans. As for the free roaming variety, some of our highways have tunnels running from the woods on one side of the road to the other for the passage of raccoons, deer, and the more exotic Florida panther. The birdlife is rampant. Our lawn is covered with ibis some days and the more familiar jays and cardinals, mocking birds and mourning doves are all over the trees in our yard. Unfortunately the mocking birds, being low bush dwellers, resent our presence and make diving passes at our heads as we attempt to enter the cars. They also assume that we mounted the satellite dish for their use as a perch and combination outhouse. Thank goodness for the frequent rains that do a clean up job. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Well, for those who came to the Boston GAthering, you know how close I am to downtown Boston.
We have Deer running around the neighborhood on occasion. In fact I , unfortunately, saw a roadkill doe not far from us. Bummer.
Wild Turkeys are becoming a nusence also. But maybe they will hide considering next month is Thanksgiving. LOL http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif

And you have no idea what a bear on the freeway will do to rush hour traffic!! I was late to class one day in Seattle for that one! LOL!

Well, I've been threatening to do this for a while now. Last Monday I finally got my hair cut, removing all the hair that had been dyed.
I like this photo as it shows off my best features--my ear and my camera. ;)

Hey, you guys. I finally have a minute (!) to share what's been going on here.
One of our dogs, our oldest (she's 13), has been very sick lately. She's diabetic, and has arthritis, high blood pressure and a heart murmur. We've been giving her meds for all of that. A few weeks ago our vet decided that the crackle he was hearing in her lungs was fluid, which meant the high blood pressure med she was on wasn't sufficient. So we began giving her a diuretic. Two days later she'd stopped eating and was moping around. I took her in to the vet, he said she was dehydrated and to stop the diuretic. He said we had to change her diet (gradually) to the prescription type foods they sell (in the vet's office, natch), and once they got her rehydrated (by way of injections) I took her home. He said he thought maybe she also had bronchitis, so we started giving her the antibiotic he prescribed.
A few days later she was doing quite a bit better, so he said to resume the diuretic at half the dosage. Almost immediately she went downhill again. Not eating, constipated, and as you can expect obviously miserable. So, back we went to the vet's office, and they kept her all that day, that night, and most of the next day. They gave her several bags of fluid (I don't know how many "several" is), and got her to feeling better. The vet said she needed to see a specialist in Columbia because he was completely at sea as to what was wrong with her. Her test results indicated that her kidneys, liver, etc. were all fine, her temperature was elevated but that might have been due to the distress at being in the vet's office (she hates it there), and the crackle in her lungs hadn't improved. She still wouldn't eat unless I force fed her, so that was worrisome.
Last Tuesday I drove into Columbia to take her to see a veterinary Internal Medicine specialist. They really have those, ain't that something? Anyway, he took x-rays, did a sonogram and blood work. And the verdict is, as far as he can determine? she was overmedicated. Otherwise she's fine. She's still diabetic so the insulin continues, but he didn't see any reason to give her high blood pressure medicine so we stopped that. One of her arthritis meds upsets her stomach so we stopped that. She can't handle the diuretic so we stopped that. She is still taking one arthritis med, finishing up the antibiotics and getting eye drops in one eye that's been inflamed for awhile (and which our vet thought was an indication of uveitis -- spelled wrong, probably -- which apparently shows up in animals with high blood pressure).
And now, several days later, she's feeling better than she has in quite awhile. She's eating, she's trotting around the yard with the other dogs, and she's resumed barking at the dogs at the house two yards over.
I sure wish she could have told us what was up. Too bad she can't talk. She could just have said, "Hey, you know those pills you've been giving me? They make me feel like hell. Could we stop?" Would have saved me, so far, over $1,000.
But she's better now. And thank God for credit cards.
Cheers, y'all.

Fan, your puppy has a credit card?! Don't let him give my kitties any ideas!! Glad he is doing so much better!!!
Bee!! WOW! I agree with Nomad--let us see the rest! Looks great!
I'll post this request here, too. Sorry to those who have already seen it two other places. Does anybody know what has happened to Nynaeve Evenstar? With her move or two and one or more computer problems, I haven't received and response to messages I sent her via e-mail and via ICQ. Hope she herself is OK!!

<font face="georgia">Syc,
I don't know if this will be helpful, but sometimes folks that use ICQ forget their ICQ number and just sign up again. Did you check to see if there were multiple ICQ names matching hers? Of course, that means messaging each one asking if they're the one (no, not The One...this is wrong tool).
