I always liked the Beatles Yellow Submarine album cover. I think there were a couple of different versions but when I was a kid, people would say to hold the album I had a certain way in the mirror to get 'Paul is Dead' clues. Never could see it but the Blue Meanies and glove with teeth imagery were freaky enough. The movie still cracks me up and no... still never did acid.

I can't say I bought Abbey Road just for the cover but I would have!
That's my favorite photo of The Beatles by far!
Walking single file in the crosswalk we see:
John (the spiritual leader)
Ringo (the undertaker)
Paul (the dead man)
George (the gravedigger)
and on the VW in the background the license plate reads 28IF which would have been Paul's age IF he was still alive at that time!
I find the location to be sort of sacred ground and like to keep an eye on it in my free time!
Here's a link in case you feel the same way!

And here's another clue for you all. The Walrus is Paul!
one and one and one is three....
got to be good looking 'cause he's so hard to see!

Years and years ago was the rare case I bought a record only for the choice of the cover painting, it was Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of **** ", and I had no idea of who Meat was, from that day I've been a major fan of his music!

Two Virgins for the cover Gus ? Yeuuuch!
Being a fellow of exquisite visual taste (see my Cherie's outfits thread ) , I remember buying four albums for their covers:
My People were Fair and had Sky in their hair but now they're content to wear Stars on their brow
Tyrannosaurus Rex ( in Mono ! )
(though maybe I had the Debora single)
In the Court of the Crimson King
King Crimson
(though maybe I heard a bit on the radio)
Roxy Music
Such was my taste (or luck) that I subsequently bought ALL albums from all three (except I ain't got Power to Believe yet.)
The fourth album of course was ta! ta!:
The Runaways.
'Twas love at first sight.
That glittering girl.

I would have bought The Runaways album for the cover too knightjewel, if I hadn't been so tuned out at the time.
I never even saw that Cherie photo cover until I discovered Cherie and ordered it through the Goldmine Collector's Magazine around '84.
I was thrilled to see that Cherie had the cover photo all to herself and what a GRRRRREAT photo it is!!! GRRRRREAT music too, I found!
Two Virgins was a long sought after collector's item by the time I managed to snag one. I forget what I paid for it but it's worth a couple hundred dollars right now!
The banned cover photo is usually what people think of as far as this album goes. There is no music, per se. Just a lot of strange sounds mixed together by a musical genius!
I suppose I would have bought it no matter what the cover was though really, since I'm a total Lennon Freak and all! //oo\\
Have a good'n!
