It's difficult to get one's brain to comprehend a disaster of this size.
The Red Cross is asking for cash donations...they say that items donated won't get there fast enough, so they want money to buy supplies over there. If you'd like to donate, here's the link:

I keep looking at the pictures and hearing the stories on the news but I still can't believe it. The worst disaster in history they say.
Those poor souls. May they all rest in peace.
Thanks for the link rocketmaster.

I have a very dear friend from Sri Lanka. Her whole family is there. I am trying to get in touch with her to see how she is.
Dad, you remember Romani right?

I do remember your wonderful friend Romani and my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. She wasn't actually over there was she?
Let me know what you find out, K?
The death toll is 76,000 and rising!
God help them!

I talked to Romani today, and she is so lucky. None of her family was killed by this disaster. Her brother said that you can't even recognize the neighborhood.
She says that she definately feels blessed.
No, she was not out there. Her family lives there though.
God Bless those people. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img]

I too have a friend from Thailand, Kim, she married an italian guy so she lives here, but her family still lives in Thailand. For luck they live in a safer area.
Tomorrow evening italian towns had plans for partyin' in the streets,to welcome the new year. Almost every mayor of these towns cancelled the new year's eve party and will turn it into a way to collect money to send to Asia for immediate help. This will be an important reason to welcome 2005.
I've read somewhere that this disaster could have been of a lesser size if South Asia had been given warning on time, which it didn't happen, it seems due to bureaucratic and communication problems. Coast areas of the planet have been alerted on time, South Asia have been alerted too late. I don't know if this actually happened, I hope that's not true... I'll try to give my little help
