There's this great Canadian techno thrash metal band named Malhavoc. They have a song about a chainsaw. That's all I can say here. I hope I'm not giving anyone a mistaken idea here. It's just a really cool song. And quite rude, to say the least. Do not listen to this song in the prescence of children.

I am listening to Framing Armageddon(Something Wicked Part 1) by Iced Earth. This album could possibly be the best Iced Earth disc to date. If you like metal check it out. Could be the big release for the metal sceen this year. As far as the vocals go on the disc IMO its the best that Tim Owens has ever done in his professional career up to and including his days with Judas Priest.

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) ? Yoko Ono urged the world to give peace a chance with the unveiling Tuesday of the Imagine Peace Tower on Videy island on what would have been husband John Lennon's 67th birthday.

The former Beatle was shot dead outside their New York apartment building Dec. 8, 1980, by deranged fan Mark David Chapman.

Ono was to be joined at the ceremony by the couple's son, Sean Lennon; Beatles drummer Ringo Starr; and bandmate George Harrison's widow, Olivia. Paul McCartney also was invited, but it wasn't known whether he would attend.

The tower is a stories-tall beam of light that will radiate from a wishing well bearing the words "imagine peace" in 24 languages. The plan is for the tower to be lit each year between Oct. 9 and Dec. 8.

Ono, 74, has said that she came up with the concept for the light tower in 1965, and that Lennon was interested.

"This is the biggest birthday present I gave to John," she told The Associated Press last month. "He's very, very happy about it, I know."

Ono said she chose Iceland, the world's northernmost country, because it is a very eco-friendly country that relies on geothermal energy.

"It's so beautiful," she said. "There's a certain strangeness to it. I would like to say it's magical."

Cool

Jagger puts 'Very Best' solos forward, Stones swagger and all

A little bit of everything: For this CD, **** Jagger says he "picked
things I felt held up over the years."

When **** Jagger began his solo forays 37 years ago, he hoped to
distance himself from the gargantuan Rolling Stones. But then he
opened his mouth, and there was no mistaking the identity behind
that bluesy snarl.

"I didn't want to sound vaguely like the Stones, but when I sing,
there are elements you can't avoid," he says. "If on the odd
occasion, something solo sounds a bit Stonesy, that's all right.
You can imagine the Stones doing the country song Evening
Gown."

Gown is one of 17 tracks on The Very Best of **** Jagger, a
compilation that culls 10 songs from four solo albums plus the
cream from duets and soundtracks, including Old Habits Die
Hard (from 2004's Alfie) and Memo From Turner (1970's Per-
formance), the earliest cut. Jagger, 64, was struck by the
vast backlog to select from.

"I played everything, and it was kind of fun," he says. "I
picked things I felt held up over the years. To keep the
tempo going, I didn't pick too many ballads."

For the gospelized Joy, Jagger drafted Bono while U2
was touring Germany. "I thought of him because of the
religious references," Jagger says. "Bono had a bad
throat, but he was really generous and did it. We re-
corded in this dining room in the country."

The album's biggest hit was Dancing in the Street, re-
corded with David Bowie in 1985.

"We were riding the crest of Live Aid," Jagger recalls.
"People are more blas? about big events now, but it
was so huge then. Bob Geldof asked us to do a song,
but we said there wasn't time to write one, so we had
to do a cover. The song was David's idea. We did it in
two takes, then the video, and 24 hours later, it was
on the radio and we were playing live in Philadelphia.
It was a wacky week."

Jagger's take on Best's three previously unreleased
tracks:

?Checkin' Up On My Baby. At producer Rick Rubin's
urging during the Wandering Spirit sessions, Jagger re-
corded this Sonny Boy Williamson song and several
other blues cuts for a possible album with the Red Devils.

"People said, 'Why didn't you put it out?' I always wanted
to add to it. It sounded too much the same to me, but
maybe I was wrong. There's some really good stuff."

?Too Many Cooks (Spoil the Soup).
John Lennon produced this Willie Dixon cover during his
18-month "lost weekend" in L.A., "a fun and fast track,"
Jagger says. "When you write a song, it can take a long
time to get it right. A favorite blues song that you've
heard a lot on the radio is much easier."

?Charmed Life. Daughter Karis sings backup on the
Wandering outtake,a demo Jagger recorded at home
with Jimmy Rip. He left it off because "I didn't want
another dance track," he says. Listeners don't think
of albums as cohesive collections these days, "so now
I wouldn't be reticent about that."

That CD is a must have, Delve! I love Jagger's solo stuff!

The main attraction though, for me, is Too Many Cooks, produced by John Lennon.
I have heard this cool recording and I am very happy to see it's finally being released, officially!
Probably remixed too, I would hope!

Here's something M|ck said about it in another article!
"Too Many Cooks (Spoil the Soup)" (Unreleased, 1973)
John Lennon led a weekly series of jam sessions during his infamous "lost weekend," a debauched eighteen-month period when he separated from Yoko Ono and moved to Los Angeles. Jagger sat in on some of the Sunday sessions at L.A.'s Record Plant, taking the vocals on this funky Willie Dixon cover -- which also features Harry Nilsson on backing vocals, Al Kooper on keyboards and Cream's Jack Bruce on bass. "It was a pretty crazy time for John," says Jagger, "but he did some interesting things. He wasn't always lost."
Some sources say Ringo was on drums. Other sources say it was Jim Keltner.
Maybe both!

John (and Harry) did some crazy partying during John's lost weekend but I enjoy all the music they made back then!

This CD is definitely a welcome addition to my Beatles and to my Rolling Stones collections!

Rock on!

I picked up the Jagger CD a while back and it's every bit as great as I thought it would be!

Not a weak track on it!

I can't believe, I didn't even know about Dolly's new album and, apparently, it's been available since May?!?!

Thanks for the heads up! Nora Lord Does Rio is most appreciative

for sure!
