Cool

ST. LOUIS -
Bill Clinton wasn't among the standing-room-only crowd at
Chuck Berry's 80th birthday celebration, but the former president sent birthday greetings to the rock 'n' roll pioneer.

"I've loved your music for nearly half a century," Clinton wrote in a letter read aloud before Berry came on stage at Blueberry Hill nightclub Wednesday night.

"Our lives are richer, our music more memorable, and our artistic legacy greater because of you, and I'm glad to have this opportunity to salute you for truly being an American treasure."

Berry, the duck-walking, guitar-playing rock legend who defined the music's joy and rebellion in such classics as "Johnny B. Goode," "Sweet Little Sixteen" and "Roll Over Beethoven," performed tirelessly for over an hour at the venue where he has given concerts one night a month for the last 10 years.

Berry moved the crowd to its feet with his classic "duck walk," a stage move he patented in a 1956 performance in New York that's been imitated by rockers ever since.

Berry's band included his daughter Ingrid on harmonica, and his son Charles Edwards Berry Jr. on guitar. Back-up musicians who have performed with him over the decades took their turns playing with him on stage.

In a surprise appearance, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry also joined Berry on stage.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The allegations seem pretty dubious but as McCartney says the Courtroom is the best place to refute them. I must say that I am emphatically not sympathetic towards Heather McCartney but I dont know how things are reported. Accusing someone of being slightly drunk and 'demanding' a meal seems to account for most of the male population so if thats an example of an accusation then quite a few people are guilty.

Its a bit sad, the only wise person seems to be Stella McCartney and shes kept some dignity in all this. Paul seems to have been more than naive but then as Johnny Thunders sang 'Dont you mess wid Cupid, Cos Cupid is Stupid'.

..there is always more than a little wisdom in lyrics written on the back of a cig packet!

I gotta see the Cream Reunion movie BD! That has got to be GRRREAT!
How cool seeing The Stooges too!!!

Wow SR...Chuck Berry is 80 and still doing the duck walk! That would have been a GRRREAT show to be at. I hope it was filmed so I can at least see it, second hand!

Backstreet Boys CW? I'll bet your daughter enjoyed it and that makes you a GRRREAT papa, which is nothing to be ashamed about, at all!

BTW, I think it's so cool that Zak Starkey has become such an excellent drummer, in his own right!
I didn't know WHO was playing bass. How cool to learn it's Pete's son!
His name is TOMMY ain't it?!!? LOL!

Well...I'm listening to some interesting "twisted records" stuff here! YOKO ONO remixes!
I guess they are becoming all the rage in the dance clubs!

Walking On Thin Ice - 10 different remixes by Pet Shop Boys, Danny Tenaglia, Felix Da Housecat, etc.

Yang Yang - 6 different Peter Rauhofer/Orange Factory remixes!

Some of these remixes are exceptionally good. My only complaint is they minimized John's guitar work on 'Walking On Thin Ice' but for the most part, these remixes make me wanna put on my dancing shoes and dance the do!

Catch ya all later!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Absolutely.

They seem to have caught a second wind. They were headlining the Wembley Concert and they stole the show. Daltrey and Townsehend seem to have survived the ups and downs and come out fighting.

Right now I'm listening to Julian Lennon's Help Yourself CD. Not bad! A little too whiney for my tastes but very well produced and the kid CAN sing!
This was his 4th album, released in '91 but I only recently picked it up.
Silly me! I have all his others! //-o\\

HEY!!!! Did anyone see Letterman a couple nights ago?
His musical guest was LADY SOVEREIGN. When I saw she was a rapper, I almost changed the channel but I'm glad I didn't! I found myself totally mesmorized by this 19 year old Brit with attitude!
I guess she is already big over there. I predict she'll be a huge success here in the states.

Well anyway, enjoy YOUR music folks!
Later,
Gus

Most boards have a "what are you listening to" topic. For those who didn't know it, that is what this topic is for.

Feel free to talk about what ever music you are listening to or thinking about!

Have fun folks!

I feel it is my duty to inform the masses of great bands that play great music. DEADSY is a prime example of this. Don't let the cover of their groundbreaking sophomore opus PHANTASMAGORE scare you away. Inside breathtaking kick *** Rock n Roll await you.
