I hadn't thought about Richard Widmark in quite a while - it's a shame that it has taken his passing to remind me of what a fine actor he was. To be honest, I didn't know that he had still been alive, though it's good to see that he lived a good, long life. And also that he lived long enough to see his work reassessed and valued for the quality that it is.

Richard and his wife lived near my Mom's friend Annie in CT.....



According to their neighbors they were very nice folks who pretty much kept to themselves....

And how could I forget Widmark's great role as Ratched aka Crocetti in MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS



Great film and even greater performances from Martin Balsam, Vanessa Redgrave, Sean Connery, and Lauren Bacall as Mrs Hubbard who chews up every scene she's in ....
