"When you make the decision to have children, your luxury is over," Stevie says.

The music icon talks to ET about drugs and rehab, plus her advice for Britney Spears!
STEVIE NICKS gets candid in a revealing new interview with ET, going on the record about what it was like to be under the influence of Klonopin, the same powerful tranquilizer -- along with nine other drugs -- that were found in ANNA NICOLE SMITH's autopsy report.

The singer was shocked to learn the drug connection between herself and the late Playboy Playmate, but in retrospect, she says the effects were apparent.

"I can bring to mind visions of Anna Nicole and think, well there you go," she says. "It's called a tranquilizer for a reason. When you take enough Klonopin you really don't care about anything."

For Stevie, getting off the drug became a matter of life and death.

"If I hadn't gone into the hospital when I did, I would absolutely be dead now," she says.

During FLEETWOOD MAC's performance at BILL CLINTON's 1993 inaugural bash, the singer admits she was on the drug.

Several months later, Stevie checked herself into rehab.

"That wasn't like the 28-day thing," she recalls. "That was 47 long days. I was in a lot of pain. I thought I was totally going to die."

Of course, Klonopin isn't the only drug she took. She had such an addiction to cocaine that it burned a hole in her nose. She got treatment for that at the BETTY FORD Center.

Now clean and in control, the 58-year-old proves her music can still mesmerize. Her new album and DVD, Crystal Visions: The Very Best of Stevie Nicks, is in stores today. The set features never-before-seen footage, as well as old favorites.

Living proof that you can come back, Stevie has some advice for another music superstar: BRITNEY SPEARS.

"She has children, so she's got to fix her life," Stevie says. "She doesn't have the luxury of being a crazy rock star because she has kids. When you make the decision to have children, your luxury is over. There's a certain part of you that has to settle down."

But she points out that Britney has time on her side.

"She's just a baby," Stevie says. "I hope she can come out of this."

Hi I just had to thank-you as I always so admired her and her music tks for posting this its nice to see she cares still as she is so awesome in my opo I have a couple of fond memories from when I was a tad younger lol tks again, nice of you!
