Imagine my embarrasment when I was travelling with friends today in Beverly Hills and "The Monkees" ....Daydream Believer came on the radio(KEarth) and I sang the lyrics as I always knew them
'Daydream Believer and Oh Oh I'm coming clean'
Everyone looked at me then fell about laughing. They all took great pleasure in telling me the line was
'Daydream Believer and a Homecoming Queen'.
Which was almost as bad as me singing the classic Beatles "Penny Lane" with Mara and she "politly" (she was choking on her martini for 15 mins) pointed out that the line I said
'eating wild rice'
was actually 'meanwhile back at'(or something like that).
So, have you ever spoken or sang the wrong lyrics in front of someone and they have "politly" pointed out that you have been singing it wrong for years?
Drop me a line and let me know, the best one(s) will maybe win something signed.
Lots of love

When I was a kid I thought the song "Angel Of The Morning"(I think that is what it was called) Always went like this---Just call me Angel Of the morning angels, just brush my teeth before you leave me. And just for a joke I still sing it that way whenever I here it...

Ok, here's a good one. In 1978 I think, I was about 11 or 12 and my 4 year old little sister used to sing Cherry Bomb (no lie) with the lyrics, "Hey street boy hey what's your sty" and ask us why the street boy had a sty on his eye and why they were singing about it in a song. She was quite concerned (she had and has an eye fetish) that the "street boy" needed to go to the doctor. Part two of the story is that once my mother heard her four year old daughter sing "have you and grab you till you're sore", she took my Runaways album away from me! I managed to sneak a listen often, but it was quite traumatic!!!!!!

I told my sister I posted her little story and she totally cracked up. We are trying to see if we can get down to LA for the El Rey show! I think she owes it to herself to go see Cherie sing the CORRECT lyrics, don't you?? In fact, I should try to drag my mother too and show her what a waste of energy it was to hide my records from me! She'd have to feel bad once she saw how gorgeous, talented, and totally rockin Cherie really is!!!!

i used to think the last verse in Cherry Bomb was:
"...i'll give ya somethin' to live for/
have YOUR/GRAB YOUR/
to your SOAR"
