As most of you know,(if you don't then listen up and don't be fooled as I see this item is still hot on ebay) in 1985 Kim Fowley released a Runaways album which wasn't our beloved Runaways. It was a group of studio muso's and some no name birds on an album called Young and Fast.

The girls in the "band" never had their photos on the cover but now direct from the treasure troves of sweetiegords I have scanned some photos of them that appeared in the California fanzine "B itch" Do enjoy

(had to come back and edit the fanzine name as the board didn't like it)

good job DeeJay, these photos are a howl, aren't they?

love denise pryor with what looks like a mop she's holding on to for dear life, though you did mention you thought it was voodoo-type stick thingee..looks like she can't close her mouth in that shot.

Ms DiAmber is a revelation in her before/after shot. in the 'group shot' (where none of them made any effort whatsoever) she looks like she's in the bottom of the class.

my fave of course is Missy Bonilla. you can see that she sang for Patsy Benatar with that outfit on. she sang on 'We Belong'?? no wonder the vocals on that song are so weird.

thanks D for posting these gems - a must-see for any Runaways afficiendo, fer sher.

    love and fake 80s glam,

    g

Yeah ***** was a pretty awesome 'zine. I can't believe they put those NON-Runaways in there tho! I had a wonderful time writing, interviewing and taking pix for the mag. Altho I was young and stupid then and can't believe some of the **** I wrote! Ugh!! Please BURN all issues you find - ha! I actually had a bunch of extras I had to throw out. It was the coolest thing tho, walking in to Tower Records and seeing a pic of Joan Jett on the cover that I took - yeah!!! KW is that you? My buddy? Or an impostor??

I notice that even Fowley doesn't mention this incarnation of The Runaways on his website...

But if you can get hold of back issues of B ITCH magazine, they are worth reading; it was a zine that focused on women in rock when there wasn't anything else like that out there.

(I got lucky a few years ago and managed to buy a copy of almost every issue...there are some excellent interviews with Precious Metal, very early L7, and a priceless interview of Joan Jett by the Keristans, a religious group that viewed her as an avatar...they still might for all I know).

That Jett interview by the keristans was hard work to read.

And Sheri I remember your photo credits too, did some Lita pics too I think from memory.

Best thing about B itch mag was DevilsDaughters articles. One time poster on this board too. Come back DD. I know you're out there picking up the dog c rapola . (that deserves a silly face) forums forums sunnies for the weather
