I've been here with you.
What rattled my cage is that I got hounded off for saying nice things about Cherie and can see it happening again to others just when the board is nice and cosy.
Am I the only one who read Neon Angel? Doesn't the blurb say ' exposes the side of rock n'roll the fans never see! ' ?
Has teddy forgotten the years Cherie spent paying back the debts KF left in her name? That she's never made a penny from the Runaways?
Great career being an iconoclast.
And he wants to stop people saying nice things about her for the sake of some rock n' roll chimera fresh from Fowleyland.
Its what fans DO; write poems, send toys, home baked cakes and knitted scarves.
Not sit around like an old **** trying to give rock n'roll some laughable analysis. Teddy is making icons of his so-called iconoclasts.
Cherie is more than a legend; she is a person.
(And WHAT music does he mean? The Runaways RIP?
Different contributions from different people.
This is a Cherie Currie messageboard. )
Love to all and Gus you are carrying on a fine tradition splendidly.

My dear Knightjewel, are you suggesting you see Cherie Currie's career in music only through the very limited and timebound lens of her early years being exploited by Kim Fowley? Surely there is much, much more to her work than that.
Iconoclasts, in the world of rock, are indeed icons, Knightjewel.
This thread invited opinions from us on our least favorite posters. For me it is those of us whose desperation to seek approval results in embarrassments of banality. That is my opinion.
And Gordie, yes you can marry me. Diane will be thrilled.

Knightjewel
Welcome back! I definitely love YOUR distinctive personality! I know this isn't the first time these iconoclastic "fans" have tried to burn down the house and I'm truly sorry to find out that's why you left! I guess I HAVE gotten a little more involved here, what with the poetry and good wishes and all but it's like you said that's what fans do!
Gordie Acorn and his minions should start there own thread so they can spew to his hearts desire.
Off coarse SweetieGord and his fiance were here long before any of us were so maybe we should all strive to be more like them.................Not!!!
If Cherie [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] doesn't deserve a positive message board, then who does?
Thanks so much. You are amazing!
More later
Gus
PS Cherie I'm so sorry for what has happened here.
I'm still trying to turn the other cheek but both cheeks are getting real sore!

Dear Teddy
Am I trying to restrict Cherie to the Fowley years?
Certainly not.
I thought you were.
I know that Gus is a fan of Cherie.
I know that Gordie is a fan of himself.
But I am not sure what you are a fan of.
Cherie's best (released) music was with Blue Canyon I feel.
One could fancifully trace a style linkage back to Midnight music and Heartbeat (Stop, look, listen) if one wanted to harp on about the Runaways I guess.(Both of which she had a creative input with)
So what do you think of Moonshine Lullaby?
I never understand what some people mean when they say stick to the music on this board..
Cherie wants her own music to be appreciated.
I still think your analysis was coloured by a misleading interpretation of the legacy of the Runaways.
('The Runaways are punk rockers. I'm not into punk rock at all')
She was their greatest attraction ( and I'll copy a contemporary three page review from the Sun Book of Rock where JJ is only mentioned in passing in one sentence near the end if you are all not careful) and thereby suffered the others' jealousy.
I haven't forgotten THAT name and THOSE t-shirts after she left.
(Hands up all those who bought from Lita's lingerie range!)
I am not interested in 'rock star icons', only people and Cherie is the best.
I thought this messagebaord was the one place we could all state our love for her in whatever fashion suits us best. One man's banal is another's best expression of his feelings.
As for seeking approval, if one is a fan of Cherie's and posting on her own messageboard, isn't the approval de facto?
Personally, I find the people who have to be crabby to get attention the most irritating.
And thanks Gus, you've been doing a great job keeping the board enjoyable. I am sure Cherie would agree.

'The Runaways are punk rockers. I'm not into punk rock at all'
knightjewel, she said this in japan i'm sure in a moment of loose-lipped delirium. we've forgiven her.
personally (poisonally??) i think her greatest hour was the 'Messin'...' era although lots from her 80s Collection ('It's You'!!) are incredible. for pure cheezy, bubblegum'n'braces, pop 'Beauty's...' takes the cheesecake...
kiss me now.
