If any of you residents out in New York or Los Angeles are theatre goers then look out for a truly wonderful piece of theatre coming your way called Black Watch. I saw it earlier this year and I think it's the best play (though 'play' is probably an inadequate description of it) I've ever seen. Sean Connery raved about it when it was premiered in Edinburgh last year, and Prince Charles couldn't get tickets. It's about a British army regiment, the Black Watch, in Iraq, and is based on true interviews with soldiers who served and saw friends killed there. It's on at the UCLA Live, Freud Playhouse in LA 18th September - 14th October, and St Ann's Warehouse, Brooklyn 20th October - 11th November. I believe there are plans to make it into a movie, but see it live if you can - it's an amazing experience, the nearest any of us normal folk will ever get to realising what it must really be like over there.
