Cherie Currie to Perform at American Cancer Society Benefit
Los Angeles, CA, August 21, 2000 -- From August 26th at 9:00am until August 27th at 9:00am, the American Cancer Society will be doing the 24 Hour Relay for Life 2000. This event will raise money, increase awareness, and educate. It will also remember individuals who have lost the battle against cancer, and celebrate the survivors of the disease, while raising funds to find a cure. Vocalist and Actress Cherie Currie, known as the former lead vocalist of the all-female band The Runaways (whose membership also boasted Joan Jett & Lita Ford), will be backed by a 30 piece choir and an all-star band
consisting of Russ McKinnon on drums (Tower of Power, Joe Cocker, The Gap Band), Producer/Songwriter/Guitarist Lanny Cordola (Giuffria, House of Lords), and renowned bassist Chuck Wright (House of Lords, Quiet Riot). Cherie will be performing her original composition entitled, "Believe", a word that epitomizes the strength and spirit of the participants in this event, and all those working to find a cure. The "Luminaria" ceremony will take place between 8:00 and 10:00 pm, with Cherie scheduled to take the stage on Saturday, August 26 at 9:00 pm. This event is being held at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood. There will be many more guest appearances. To learn more, visit the website at http://members.loop.com/~miche/ or call 1-800-ACS-2345.

Very nice coverage of the benefit. Wish I could've been there in person.
