This is America. We don't jail journalists here.
Jailing journalists is unacceptable in a democracy. But that's exactly what is happening at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.

Award winning journalist and host of "Democracy Now" Amy Goodman was arrested by St. Paul police while covering a protest outside the Republican National Convention. Though clearly identified as press, Goodman was charged with "obstruction of a legal process and interference with a 'peace officer.'" Two of her producers were arrested for "suspicion of felony riot."

This video is upsetting, but you deserve to know what's really going on.

Goodman and her producers were released last night. (An AP photographer was also arrested and released). But the charges are still pending.

This story has been virtually ignored by the mainstream press. The cable channels are providing extensive coverage of events related to the Republican National Convention, but there has been a virtual news blackout on the arrest of Amy Goodman and the Democracy Now team.

Americans deserve to know that journalists are being jailed for trying to do their jobs. E-mail CNN President Jonathan Klein and NBC News President Steve Capus today (NBC News controls MSNBC) to demand coverage of this brutally important story.

Of coarse FOX NEWS is in bed with the Republican Party. No sense in asking them to cover this story!

As an addendum to your 90210 story Gus, I was watching "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles" last night (good show if you like the movies) and one of the actors looked familiar and then I found out who it was. Brian Austin Green, the former geeky kid who dated Tori Spellings character on the show. Wow, has he changed.

Just some idea's and quotes from the Democrat Vice President nominee for you.

Biden, on a post-debate appearance on MSNBC, October 30, 2007: ?The only guy on the other side who?s qualified is John McCain.?

On Meet the Press, November 27, 2005: ?I?ve been calling for more troops for over two years, along with John McCain and others subsequent to my saying that.?

Day 1967 since "mission accomplished" was declared by the *******.
The U.S. death toll, in Iraq, is now 4159.

In the first six months of 2008, 205 American soldiers and over 6,000 Iraqi civilians were reported killed in Iraq. Only, you wouldn't know that from watching the three major newscasts which devoted a total of only 181 weekday minutes to covering the Iraq War.

The media's complacency in ignoring the ongoing war has made one thing perfectly clear: This war isn't going to end on its own. WE have to end it.
Spread the word.....VOTE FOR PEACE!

Day 1992 since "mission accomplished" was declared by the ******* and as our media focus' on other things, the U.S. death toll, in Iraq, has risen to 4181.

Also....the UK death toll now stands at 176.
Other members of "the coalition of the willing" have lost 138.
So the total "good guys" dead because of that aforementioned ******* is 4495.

Jury selection begins for Phil Spector retrial
Oct. 20, 2008

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Jury selection began Monday for the murder retrial of music producer Phil Spector, who is accused of killing actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion five years ago.

About 80 prospects reported to court and an initial group of 18 was chosen for questioning by lawyers later in the day.

Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler asked the nine men and nine women if they can be fair and impartial and follow his instructions.

"What we do not want ... is people with an agenda," Fidler told jurors.

One woman gave a long pause about whether she could sit on a jury, before revealing her son had been murdered several years ago. A middle-age man said he might have trouble being objective, considering someone of Spector's stature is on trial.

"I feel that certain celebrities may have an advantage in the sort of defense attorneys they can choose and afford versus someone who cannot," the man said.

Spector is charged with second-degree murder in the 2003 death of Lana Clarkson. The 40-year-old actress died of a gunshot through the mouth while sitting in the foyer of his Alhambra mansion.

Spector's first trial ended a year ago when jurors deadlocked 10-2, with the majority favoring conviction. Spector's defense suggested Clarkson shot herself.

Spector was in court with his wife, Rachelle. The 69-year-old wore a long, black pinstriped jacket with a bright red tie and a silver dragonfly broach on his lapel.

Jury selection is expected to last the rest of the week.

Prospective jurors who reported Monday had already filled out lengthy questionnaires asking their views about the criminal justice system and if they had followed celebrity criminal trials, including Spector's.

This oughta be interesting!!!

Day 2031 since "mission accomplished" was declared by the lame duck *******.
The official U.S. death toll, in Iraq, is now 4201.

BTW, I heard recently that for every one of our troops killed, on average, 9 contractors are killed.
So the actual U.S. death toll could be as high as
42010. It's no secret that there are more contractors than troops there but their death toll seems to be a well guarded secret, or something!
I wonder why???
