Legs McNeil book

Just wanted to mention that a new book is out entitled "The Other Hollywood: Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry." It's written, in part at least, by Legs McNeil, who also wrote "Please Kill Me: Uncensored Oral History of Punk Rock." McNeil uses the format that seems to have originated with Jean Stein's biography of Andy Warhol actress Edie Sedgwick in "Edie" or Gerald Clarke's biography of Truman capote. It's less writing than it is a series of interviews with different personalities, but it makes for fascinating, informative reading for all that. I haven't read McNeil's latest, just glanced through it, but I did read "Please Kill Me" and it was a great book, even if you weren't into the punk scene. Also, Fred Lincoln appears to have been interviewed extensively for the book. It appears the book covers the history of pornography in the U.S. from the 1950's up until now. The subject matter undoubtedly is not everyone's cup of tea, but for those who are feeling adventurous, it looks like an engrossing reading experience.

Just wanted to mention, in the interests of full disclosure, that it doesn't seem, in the parts of the book I glanced through, that Fred Lincoln discusses "Last House" at all, so those "Last House" purists like myself may not be at all interested in reading about his interactions with Linda Lovelace, Tina Russell, et al., Then again, they may. Also, the tone of the book doesn't appear to be salacious or prurient, for those who may have ethical or moral objections to the whole topic of pornography.
