I'm with you. First off, you cant make that film like they did in the 70's. And if they cant make it like that, it will not have the same impact!
Plus the film stock they used helped to make it more real. No Last House remake!

This royally pisses me off.

I say go ahead and let them waste money. It just brings attention to the original.
Good point there.

Yep, not to forget the blockbuster windfalls of other genre remakes...
PSYCHO
TCM
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL
THE BLOB
CARRIE
etc. etc...
I'll do it. I've got a weekend free in August, as long as I'm home by 6pm. Got some shelves to put up for my Nan.
LOL
As bad as an idea as it is, I would kill for a shot to be in it!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I don't think so. I've met a lot of kids that have never seen the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and base their opinion completely on the remake. They just dismiss the original as "that old movie".Originally posted by Krugsgirl:

I don't think the audience for a modern remake written by somebody from the development team of Freddy vs. Jason would care about a film like the original Last House. Nor would they understand it. Last House is about very real and important issues. It makes a statement that reflects the time it was made but the sentiment expressed is timeless. The only statement any remake could make is greed, pure and simple. In other words, they're spitting in my face, in yours, and in David's. If you consider film to be any sort of vehicle for art and social commentary, as I do, this can only be taken as bad news.
Fuck them.
I do agree with about 90% of what you are saying. But I do think a remake would hip ppl to the older flick. I know many wont get it, but there are some that will. And then maybe after seeing that and looking it up online, they will find about other gems like House at the End of the Park and Hitch Hike!

Well, it's good that you can be optimistic about it. I just think any audience that this new film will attract will have a completely different sensibility. I absolutely don't understand the reasoning behind the remake trend. Why don't they just strike new prints of the original and send it out for another theatrical run?
