Luckily, got PJ's uncut version of BAD TASTE from a lil Mom & Pop video store who didn't cut anything. As with BRAIN DEAD, seen in a little art-haus theatre (watched 3X on the big screen, fabulous!!!). Then went to a Blockbuster video-shop later to see what THEIR version was like once it hit video as DEADALIVE. How friggin depressing! One-Third of the movie GONE!

I wrote a couple playtime-screenplays before. Gawd, were they bad... (fun to write, but really bad)

Ever since THE SIXTH-SENSE, everybody wants a big twist-ending. Minoj Shyamalana-ding-dong ruined straight-ahead horror-scripts for the rest of us. Can't be a BAM, in-your-face, bleak finale anymore. ...We need a 'twist' nowadays....

My personal horror movie bugbear at the moment is the big "duhn!" orchestra hit.

Why does every Hollywood horror movie think that the way to build tension and suspense is to leave a bit of silence, then have a massive loud orchestra hit, followed by something which turns out to be not-so-sinister after all? This happens about 40 times per movie. Who started this trend?

DUHN......"Hey, what are you doing in this dark alley?"
DUHN......"Can you tell me how to get out of this spooky park?"
DUHN......"Do you take sugar in your coffee?"

DUHN DUHN DUHN DUHN- STOP IT!

    Sorry

Just rewatched the Spielberg written & produced POLTERGEIST (directed by Tobe Hooper). Replayed & heavily edited by NBC (whom own the Sci-Fi Channel).

I think THAT movie mighta been the end of creepy spooky haunted-house movies. Since 1982 haunted-houses have been wild roller-coasters! See remakes of THI3TEEN GHOSTS, GHOST SHIP, The Haunting, etc. All SFX-Heavy fluff. No storyline to back it up.

My favourite from the Haunted house genre has to be "The Changeling" starring George C Scott.

Totally un-nerved me when i first watched it.

    Brilliantly Acted

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So true. The twist ending is killing the horror genre. People are forgetting what true horror actually is.
