Hi There!
Word of mouth led me to
www.BooksForSoldiers.com
This is an amazing organization. They've created a place where our soldiers overseas can ask for things they need and we can send them to them personally.
It started out as just providing books to alleviate boredom in their downtime. But some of these kids have laptops with them and can log on, and they ask for everything from snacks to tube socks for their troops.
Regardless of how you feel about "the war", your heart goes out to these young people (both males and females) who are stuck in that hostile environment.
Our soldiers are begging for your used books, unwanted CDs and DVDs, little snack and hygiene things you can buy at the .99 cent store, plastic bags, toilet paper, powdered drink mix, underwear, sheets, medical items....our government is not taking care of these kids!!!
In some cases, their supply trucks cannot get through, but MAIL can, because it comes by plane!
Please take a look at the message boards over there....

You can send things via Media Mail.
Some had the chance to pack for a 6 month stay. Well, another 6 months just got tacked on, and they have NOTHING left. Toothpaste, deodorant, soap, sun screen! I just read a post from one troop that said they had no food or water.
Your political affiliation is 100% irrelevant... in this case. Please go look...and do what you can...

You'll see what I mean once you get there, but It's important that if you plan to send something, post what you are sending so your package is not repeated. It's not about bragging. It's about being logical. There are so many troops in need, let's not waste our efforts by sending repeat items.
Please go look!

Please forward this to your friends!
Thank you!
