Re: Nascar a sport?

I know alot of ppl are nascar fans on this forum and I really hope I dont ruffle any feathers, but how can nascar be considered a sport?

I mean if I'm driving home on the weekends I don't consider that working out. These men aren't athletes. Jeff Gordon was prob the kid who was picked last for kickball every single day.

Nascar is not a sport, it is entertainment. If you like nascar more power to you, Im not gonna tell anyone what to like or dislike. I'm just stating my personal opinon on the topic at hand.

I think it is...Look at it this way, the drivers have to work out to be able to drive the cars. You drive around 200mph, a speed that most of us will never see in are life. They risk their lives to races and theirs no bigger sacrafice in any sport...

In my opinion it is a sport.
It may not be like football or anything, but they are competing for something, and you know it's hard driving for such long periods of time at the speed in which they drive.

Re: Nascar a sport?

In the older days of Nascar, I didn't consider it a sport. Most of the drivers were more out of shape than the majority of the posters on here Anymore, they are in shape, have workout programs and its pretty much a year round competition. They have practices, they train, and if you have seen them coming out of their cars, its definitely physically draining on them. Instead of balls and bats or sticks and pucks they use cars as their equipment.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

Just like WWE, sports entertainment. Although not scripted like wrestling, still just the same.....I vote no, not a sport.

In some ways I think it is scripted. Like Jr. winning the Daytona 500 last year after his dad died there the year before.

Is PACE a sport? I mean they compete for something too

j/k...I would say Nascar is, because not only the competition, but like someone said...they do have to work out and be in a good health in order to be competetive...especially the pit crews
