Texas jumps over USC in BCS standings

USC is No. 1 in the AP, USA Today and Harris Interactive polls, hasn't lost in its last 29 games and is coming off a 51-24 dismantling of Washington.

So how did the Trojans drop in the latest BCS standings?
Texas, which is No. 2 in both the human polls, moved to No. 1 in the standings that will determine who will play in the national championship game, just .0007 points ahead of USC.

The Longhorns, who beat then-No. 10 Texas Tech 52-17 on Saturday, was ranked No. 1 in five of the six computer polls utilized in the BCS formula. USC, in comparison, were ranked fourth in one computer ranking and fifth in another.

That gave Texas enough of an advantage in that segment of the formula to leapfrog USC.

Texas should be no.1. USC has not really had any opposition to rank at no.1.

Thats true, is there anyway Tech moves ahead of USC and Texas and Tech play for a National Championship with a still undefeated USC? Maybe USC ends up rematching Notre Dame in a bowl game.

Though if something like that were to happen, they would be another outrage and they would have to come up with a playoff system.

USC played Oregon, ASU, and ND on the road. Where Texas played unranked Oklahoma and a very overrated Texas Tech.

LOL USC played Notre Dame, as for the other two "Who"? Oh yeah that ND team is a little over ranked themselves. If its about who you play then Virginia Tech is No.1.

The computers only look at who plays their ranks and the big one here is margin of victory. usc's m-o-v is 27 and texas' is 32. Both have played 3 ranked teams, usc- #'s 24, 14, & 9 texas- #'s 24, 10, & 4. usc's m-o-v over ranked teams is 18 texas' is 21. Margin of victory is where Texas has got the advantage over USC.
