Much agreed. Shoot those RC teams of the late 80s (as did many others around here) would put up 100 a couple to three times a season. I just wonder where those types of games have gone.
Yeah Cumberland had a good team back then too, they are located right near farmville. Im not sure when Fluvanna moved from A to AA, so many of those schools have either been reclassified or renamed. I would assume Suffolk is AA now too considering the size of the tidewater area.
The first state tourney I went to was in 87 I believe. Burton won their first game against Prince Edward then lost big to GW Carver(Magna Vista). Kelly lost to Middlesex, and Talford's Castlewood team lost to Windsor, they shut Talford down big time and that says alot.

I guess the decline in school population has something to do with it, but at the same time, there probably isnt 1 player in the lpd that could start for any team in the area 15 years ago. The biggest difference is fundamentals, not many kids have them.
As Hank Hill would say:
"Its all them d@mn vidya games fault!"
Seriously, I don't think kids want to work for it as bad, or enjoy that aspect of it. Of course it is not only lacking at our high school level. It is even evident in the pros, and look at our frickin last Olympic team.

no...what i was saying is we would have won titles if it were split up like football because we wouldve been division 3 and all the teams we ever played in the final 4 were all division 4

Oh, I thought you meant D2 A like it is now. My bad.
TJ was there back in my day also. Who do you think started the chant of FatBoy anyway? I don't think Kelly beat us back then either.
TJ if your out there reading this, I'm sorry for calling you FatBoy back in the day.
crack is whack
lol yeah, when did he graduate like 96? 96 I because Burton went to state that year, then went to state in 97 which was Doug's senior season.
TJ played from 93-96 I would assume. Baldridge was the same age if Im not mistaken.
He would have to of graduated in 96 because he was at CVC playing ball Doug's senior year. I think it was the 95 season we missed state because Boo got thrown out of a game for hanging on the rim. It was the night he was only a few points away from breaking coach Wilsons single game scoring record.(that was a bad call by the ref)
crack is whack
Yeah I think that was against Ervinton....then we lost to Honaker.
