Sportsmanship

hey man you can take up for him all you want. You can say whatever you want to say but the fact is he made himself look like a fool. He went through college for 4 years and never opened his mouth and at the end of his last game he had to open his mouth and make a fool out of himself. You don't say things like that just after you lost the national championship game. It just makes you look stupid.

Im not exactly sure where this post went to. From just sportmanship to an argument on couple of situations to a couple of players.
Sportmanship is one thing. Emotional control is something else.
Sportmanship can be taught to a degree. Emotional control cannot. Every person is different and every event will cause them to react differently.
Sometimes even the best person you know may react in a way you wouldn't think.
Does that make them bad as far as sportsmanship.
I don't think so.
A history of repeated action, i think that would make them bad as far as sportmanship.

I just love it how a one minute interview after losing(one of) the biggest games in his career, you people have black listed this man from every being a decent human being. A 60 second interview after losing the national title...

How can you judge anyone in the worst moment? Like I said if I had just lost, it would not have been pretty. Yet you guys are throwing him in the same wagon as Marcus Vick, Maurice Clarette, and Adolf Hitler.

How is that being a bad sport? Did he stomp on his leg? Did he spit at someone? Did he cuss them out or put them down any? No he just said he still thought USC was the better team, then him and Bush went into the locker room and congratulated him. Yet this "stupid" post keeps coming up.

After John Battle beat us in state I told everybody that asked me that we were the better team, I guess that makes me a bad sport as well.

Not to get mixed up in the topic on sportsmanship.

But what happened in that situation was more emotional. You just played a game and lost a national title. Does the words, i am more than a little upset come to mind?
If that was an all season attitude or consistent attitude i would worry.
But after one of the biggest games of your college career. Nah i don't think so.
That is just my opinion though. Im sure others have their own.
And they were two time national champions i think. So that added to the hurt emotional state.

Okay first off, I didnt read any of the posts on this entire thread other than the original. All I have to do is call BS for sportsmanship for Jordan though. The other guys, yeah maybe but I dont recall any sportsmanship from those guys either. Just because they kept their mouths shut and wanted to be media darlins doesnt mean they were "good" sports about everything.


So on to MJ, the best player ever was said to have also been the biggest and best trash talker in the entire NBA when he was there, you call this sportsmanship? Everyone respected Jordan, and Jordan got all the calls. Yet, we call out players like Kobe and Iverson for whining to the refs. Jordan never had to show sportsmanship because he was the elite and he always carried his team to the NBA titles. You dont hear very much about Jordan's sportsmanship in his early years when he was getting beat in the playoffs year in and year out, then Pippen and Jackson came and the rest is history.

Lets not forget about the Bad Boys of the NBA in the late 80's either. Remember the Pistons? Yeah, sportsmanship. These players today are under a huge mircoscope, the media makes a HUGE deal over everything these days.

Ohhh and just when did the Bears film the "SuperBowl Shuffle" during the 85 season Mega?? lol Wasnt it BEFORE they won the superbowl. lol Im not saying thats "un" sportsmanlike. Im just sayin. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
