In Ky right now (and Tn if I am not mistaken), schools are practicing football. Why doesn't Va allow this? Is it because they do not wanna fund anything where they stand no chance of making a profit?

Another question, in the VHSL you are limited to what 18 games (baseball and softball) before the conference tournament. 18 games, every state around us plays 18 games before april. This puts va athletes at a major disadvantage when it comes to going on to the next level. in 18 games there if you get into a "slump" the season is literally half over, the same thing with getting "hot". Why the VHSL does not allow more games is beyond me. If you have one good pitcher you can make it the state quarterfinals every year. I think that was the key to Kelly's success in the Shupe era (but then again its alot easier to pitch when you are up by 10). All I am saying is allow more games, start early, do whatever it takes but playing twice a week isn't helping the athletes much.

I think its 20 games before the tourney start, but either way its still a joke. I agree with you 100% its stupid that VA is restricted to less games

I would like to see the teams play each other in two-game sets instead of just singles. That would have teams playing four games a week, with every Wednesday an off day. That would mean 28 district games instead of just 14.

Example:
PV's first week of district play was against Burton and Kelly, both at home. So in my format, PV and Burton play at PV on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is an off day, then PV and Kelly play at PV on Thursday and Friday.

Then after all teams in the district have played each other in a set, the second half of the season begins, with teams playing in the same order as before except the first half visiting team is the second half home team.

Same example: Second half of the year, PV plays Burton on Mon-Tues at Burton, then PV plays Kelly at Kelly on Thurs-Fri.

This way teams play twice the games without extending the season into the summer. You could even throw an off-week in there after the first half and before the second half, just to give teams a breather.
