    Re: Scores...

Haysi holds on to win 28-26. Big points win for Haysi which should put them back on top as the #1 seed. Not an impressive win though struggling against a team they dominated in every facet last year. Not looking the best at this point for the Tigers getting close to playoff time.

    Re: Scores...

I wouldn't expect a #1 seed from haysi when the polls come out. Yes that did beat Letcher Center (which had a losing record) but you have to figure in the 14pt loss by lee high against JJ.Kelly which is now (3-6)...

Plus one has to figure in Powell Valley's 51 point win today against Division 2 Coeburn. (I know Coeburn is no world beaters) but the win was much larger than haysi's and we will get rider points for beating kelly and them beating lee.
Win with humility, loose with dignity.... the tropheys will come and you'll always be remembered as a champion.

    Re: Scores...

How many points you defeat or lose facing an opponent has no bearing whatsoever on the power point calculation. I think Haysi will be the #1 seed (see my post I made minute ago regarding this). Although in my opinion I don't think they deserve to be a #1 seed, more than likely that's how it is going to be.

    Re: Scores...

I left with 3 minutes to go in the 4th and Pv was ahead 57-6.... We had our youngest players on the field and just running basic run formations so it could end.

    Re: Scores...

PV gets next to nothing in points for beating Coeburn(about 14 I think) Haysi picked up 24 points by beating Letcher Central. I'm not sure if Haysi deserves the #1 seed either but if they don't then I'm not sure who does? I don't think any of the teams in division 2 have been extremely impressive. Just one of those deals they have a system in place that is supposed to reward strength of schedule so I don't know why anyone would complain if Haysi does come out #1.

    Re: Scores...

I have always been under the impression the margin of win or defeat, strength of schedule, and opponets win/loss record. But i could be wrong.

I really think hasyi shouldn't over look the rebels next week also.... That could be a real sleeper for them.

    Re: Scores...

You are correct, Haysi gets 24 points for defeating LCC - 16 for the win over a Div. 4 team (as determined by the VHSL for out-of-state competition) & 8 rider points (2 for each defeated opponent's wins). Powell Valley picked up 16 points for defeating Coeburn - 12 for defeating a Div. 2 team and 4 rider points (Coeburn is 2-7). It won't matter if Coeburn wins or not next week as far as PV is concerned since they are facing another team PV defeated, being J.J. Kelly.

So yes, BGJ is right Big Blue Fan, Haysi received more power rating points this week than PV.

    Re: Scores...

no margin of victory has no bearing...the pts system is based on what division your opponents are in and their won/loss record. Ofcourse if you beat a team you get much more points than if you lose to them but you are still rewarded points for losing to good teams.

You are right Haysi should not overlook Ervinton next week but if they lose that game they don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway so if I were them I would just ask VHSL to let someone else go to the playoffs if that happened.
