Since I'm not local anymore, somebody please post something official about what it was that happened. Not trying to pry or be overly nosey, but as a teacher, coach, and parent, I'm sure that there can be lessons learned from this unfortunate situation.
Wow I can't believe that someone would say that the reasons weren't bad enough. Is it really all about sports now??
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

The board went into executive session to make the final decision (as if they had not made it beforehand). They were in closed session for 1 1/2 hours and came out and made the announcement. The players are so hurt. Many of the girls, both past and present, were there and they spoke so well of Hugh and showed such emotion and maturity, they are just killed. Our school board is elected, maybe this bunch was not thinking about election day. I'm going by the 'rumored' ones at this moment, and since the poster said 'I know they had their reasons', it is at least admitting there was something.
I'm fairly confident in saying that if the reason was insubordination, I doubt it was because he was wearing shirts with improper language on them or anything like that.

No it is not just about sports. It is about letting a good man and a wonderful teacher being fired from the job he ves for reasons that I believe are not bad enough to take this extreme measure. Hugh made some mistakes and he more than anyone would like to do it over, but I guess what I am trying to say the punishment did not fit the crime. Godsey obviously does a great job, it's going to hurt the team if he's not there running the show.
