Clintwood/Coeburn Final was 55-6

LOL no worries - at Castlewood tonight there were some pretty crazy fans as well.

I remember one play in which it was 4th down and Appalachia was forced to punt (they were penalized so much, it was a LONG 4th down), and the snap went low and the punter (Devin Brickey) juggled the ball around for a few seconds and picked it up and went running with it instead of trying to punt with like 4 defensive guys in his face.

The defense didn't expect it so he ran a LONG ways and somehow got a first down. He was flat out flying.

After the play, I heard some older guy behind me yell, "HEY, STOP PLAYING DIRTY. .. bunch of rednecks." (I was on the Castlewood side because the Appy side was PACKED.)

I wanted to laugh my a** off because it was so ridiculous. I guess it would have been a lot less "redneck-ish" if he would have tried to punt, only to have it blocked, resulting in a Castlewood touchdown? Hypocrites at their best.

Does anyone have any details of the games tonight?? BRIGHT SPOTS?

Thanks .. glad you enjoyed it! It was a pretty exciting game overall. Much closer than I expected anyways. I was figuring Appy would blow out Castlewood.

Patrick Henry - 40 something
Pound - 7

When I left the Pound/Patrick Henry game with 6 mintues left in the game, Patrick Henry had just scored another TD makin the score 47-7. Score was 0-0 with 6 minuted left in the 1st quarter, neither team was doin anything much and the game was called on account of lightning. There was about a 30 minute delay in the game, and when the Cats took the field after the thunderstorm they found themselves bein thrown around in another storm stirred up by Patrick Henry. 2 punts returned for TD's. Cats picked up a fumble and returned it about 65 yards to the PH 4 and never got in. 1st down, picked up one yard, 2nd down lost 2, 3rd down gained one, and fourth down got stopped on the 1. 1st and goal from the 4 with momentum and they couldnt punch it in. The whole game for the Cats looked a lot like the drive I just described.

Sounds to me like the Wildcats are going to be about the same as last year, if not worse.

I know this sounds stupid with the score Burton put up but we looked like crap tonight. not focused and not ready to play this game is the feeling I got by watching the game.

I hate to break it too ya buck but every school has them. You just got to find the right spots. Don't come near the endzones or people standing up that is all I can tell you. As far as Burton goes. They looked flat, hard to get up for a game of this magnitude. The 1st Team D did not give up a score. The offense looked flat didn't really get a whole lot going. I am glad we got it out of the way in the first game instead of the next couple. I hope #3 Russell Rice checks out OK, he was carted off in the 4th Qt with a back injury. Hope all is well.
