Last I checked, they make the MVP trophy out of metal, not paper--and Kobe's got the actual, metal, real one. Just because it eats you up that he's got it and your boy doesn't have it doesn't mean you gotta live in denial.

I can tell you this--a PG's success depends mainly on the guys around him being shotmakers when he gets them the ball, and on screens set to get them open. It's a much easier life for a PG in the NBA if they've got quickness and shot-making ability.

Most of Kobe's success has come thru double and triple-teams, and still shoots 50% from the field when most of his shots are jumpshots, not layups or wide-open teardrops in the lane. Sure--the Lakers have a really good team this year and are playing well as a team--but Kobe gets his most of the time by himself, not by throwing up an oop to Tyson Chandler when he gets into trouble.

You let me start a team TODAY--and I'm taking Kobe and beating just about any team you can put together starting with CP3.

It doesnt eat me up...its just the fact that they based Kobe's prior years on this years MVP...he only got it this year because of the other times people say he should of got it and his team....This year CP3 was the prime example of an MVP, he made everybody else around him better and took his "without a chance" team and made them into one of the top teams in the NBA(the 2nd best imo)...thats why he shouldve been this years MVP

Dude--you're saying that CP3 is SOLELY to praise for the Hornets' team going from "without a chance" to #2 seed in the West--and that's your main reasoning for him being "the real MVP"? You're nuts man. Let me break this down for you young man...

David West is having a great year. Tyson Chandler's finally playing up to his potential he had straight outta HS. Morris Peterson and Peja Stojakovic are eating up people from deep. Bonzi Wells has been a pretty good player in this league for a while and is a great fit at 6th man. Julian Wright, Hilton Armstrong, and Jannero Pargo aren't doing a shabby job off the bench either. That's a team 9-deep with solid young (cept for Mo-Pete & Peja) NBA talent man--it's not like Paul showed up and said "let me show you how to do it guys"...and let there be light--they started winning.

The person that deserves the most kudos for their renaissance isn't CP3 to begin with--it's Byron Scott. His leadership and teaching these guys how to win over the past 3 seasons is the main reason I point to for their success. That and the fact that they're finally stable in New Orleans and not flip-flopping between Oklahoma City and New Orleans...the team's probably better rested and more comfortable.

So--the MVP to sum up is an individual award. No one does more for his team than Kobe in the league--period. If the Lakers didn't have Kobe, they'd be lucky to make the playoffs. He's the key. If CP3 didn't exist, and any other NBA caliber PG were playing for the Hornets--the Hornets could have still made this run due to the other players developing as they have. You keep talking about all those assists he gets--well, just like Nash--someone's got to make the buckets on the other end. Assists for an NBA PG should be easy to come by if you're surrounded by scorers.

So Cane who is making those plays and getting them the ball? Paul is...Hes the PG and the offense goes through him, but he is one of the best playmakers in the game and finds his teammates open or sets them up..so in other words he makes them better(MVP)

Have you seen some of the stuff this guy has done this year? Paul and the Hornets are a highly underrated team..kobe got it because hes kobe and "deserves" one dont get me wrong now the guys great and prolly shouldve won it in years prior, but you shouldnt make up for it this year when another guy deserves it for what he did THIS YEAR....but I completely disagree with you about another PG coming in there and doing the same thing..on the other hand I completely agree with you about Byron and he definitely deserved the Coach of the Year award

Some where 20 years from now a group of old timers will sit around and talk about some the best ever. Chris Paul won't be mentioned, Kobe will.
