Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
Arlovski's probably one of my top 5 favorite fighters, tough to see him look so bad post-Fedor. I was kinda afraid of Arlovski's chin becoming suspect after he got knocked out in that bout. Sometimes you get knocked out so hard, you're never the same fighter. Could hold true for Arlovski.
Definitely looking forward to Brown/Faber tonight tho.

Are there no local fights? I haven't seen or heard of a mma card around here in a while.

I wanna say there's an Arena card over in Abingdon on the 27th at the Washington Co. Fairgrounds. Not sure of who's fighting. Maybe Gotch/Monkeyhead or someone can fill us in?
Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
spike is showing their hour-long ufc unleashed feat. anderson silva.
i know his last two fights have been duds, but holy moly.
just to see the damage he can do to an opponent from so many different ways.
abusing the midsection with knees, crippling rich franklin, such an effecient and devistating striking with his hands, ask chris leben; ju-jitsu is more than adequeat; dan henderson, the best fighter in his weight class at the time, a very experienced wrestler who got choked out; devistating barages of elbows that made travis lutter give up; tko'd nate marquart with those powerful tactical punches; the split second ko in his first fight at a bigger weight class.
everybody always says fedor best p4p, im not buying it.
AA had fedor ROCKED, but tried that stupid ass moronic flying knee.
my top five p4p?
anderson
fedor
gsp
torres
this is tough, id say its either machida or mike thomas brown
Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
MTB beat Faber by decision last night.
Faber came out looking good, and fought a great fight, but MTB at this point is the better fighter. i was wrong, im eating crow lol
brown has won ten fights in a row, thats insane.
the WEC is owned by the UFC, right?
then why not combine them, make it a standard 150 lb or so, the lightweight division in the UFC would be amazing.
I would pay $100 to see brown v. penn and faber v. florian or huerta
Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
the wec is basically for fighters that are 145lbs or lower....we may see faber drop to 135 and fight torres or make the jump to the ufc and 155 for the big $$

Not heard anything. I've judged the last several Arena shows, but David has not contacted me on this one, at least not yet.
Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
Faber came out looking great and had he not broke his right hand on Brown in the 1st Round I think he would have won. It cost him big time because he was no longer allowed to land the right on Brown which was working very effectively up until the break.
Either way it was a good fight and Brown is defintely tough. Wouldn't mind seeing a Faber / Brown III by around December.
Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
Just got off the phone with David Shelton. The Arena is having a show on the 27th at the fairgrounds in Abingdon, that's exit 14.
I will be one of the judges again.
Don't have enough info to give much of a card yet. Sounds like some really good fighters expected to compete though.
Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world
torres hasnt lost since 2003 iirc, so that would be an absolute war
but faber strikes me as one that seeks the stardom, so i could def. see him go up at 155 for the ufc.
