A long-rumored middleweight fight between Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) and Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-1-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is set for UFC 116.

Fighters Only magazine confirmed the match-up earlier today, and MMAjunkie.com subsequently verified the fight is signed with sources close to the situation.

The fight was originally rumored for UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Simply nothing going on other than a few shows in Ky.

I think part of the craze has died down. The Arena show is taking a break from what I've heard. Caged Kombat is working on maybe doing sometime soon, but no set dates or locations.

Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world

Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole reports that Jon Fitch will now face Ben Saunders at UFC 111. Saunders is replacing Thiago Alves, who was not cleared to fight due to problems found in his pre-fight CAT scan. Saunders had been set to fight Jake Ellenberger on Saturday's card in Newark, N.J.
Word came early this morning that Alves would not be able to fight.
Alves said he did two MRIs and one CAT scan at home in Florida. He said doctors said they saw something they initially thought was a bleed on the brain, but later thought it was something with which he was born.
Alves said the New Jersey commission “is particular” and was not comfortable clearing him to fight.
“I was really upset and I’m not even concerned about my health,” Alves said. “I know I’m fine. I’m just sad I can’t fight.”
This is the second time the Fitch vs. Alves rematch has been scratched. The pair fought in June of 2006, with Fitch coming away with the TKO win. After both had unsuccessful title shots, they were scheduled to fight at UFC 107. Alves sustained a knee injury and had to withdraw from the bout.
Saunders is coming off a win over Marcus Davis at UFC 106. Before that, he lost to Fitch's American Kickboxing Academy teammate, Mike Swick. The TKO loss to Swick is Saunders' only loss.
According to MMA Junkie, Ellenberger will still be paid show and win money for the bout he was supposed to have with Saunders

    DIAZ Bro's baby!!

Nate Diaz just DEMOLISHED Rory Markham.

His striking was awesome, and at 170, he has tons more power.
Markham didnt hit Diaz but maybe once. He was lights out tonight.
I thought the 170 jump would hurt him, but he looked better at 170 than he arguably ever did at 155.

Ricardo Alemedia def. Matt Brown by 2nd round RNC
Nate Diaz def. Rory Markham by 1st round TKO

anyone else see what a classess, dirty POS Palhares is?

he probably really really hurt drwal tonight, he would nto let go of a heelhook.

the ref tried to break them up, but he didnt let go immediately.

it was sickening, and I hope he gets a serious fine for that.

sad too, i enjoy watching him fight
